U.S. asks Mexico to review alleged labor rights violations at Carolina Performance Fabrics
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has initiated the USMCA Rapid Response Labor Mechanism, asking Mexico to review alleged violations of freedom of association and collective bargaining rights at the Carolina Performance Fabrics plant. Located in Guanajuato, Mexico, the plant produces high-performance specialty textiles for the automotive industry. The United States has suspended customs liquidation of unliquidated entries of goods from the plant. Mexico has 10 days to decide whether to agree to conduct a review; if it agrees, it must complete the review within 45 days of the date this request was made.
