Consumer rights information launched on Amazon EU product detail pages and environmental advertising claims restricted
Amazon has launched the display of consumer rights information across its EU marketplaces as part of the EU Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT). Starting September 27, 2026, customers will automatically see a legal conformity guarantee notice on product detail pages, reminding them that they can request repair, replacement, or return of defective products for at least 2 years; if a seller is considered the product producer and guarantees the product's service life exceeds 2 years, it may also choose to display a sustainability guarantee label.
Amazon’s European marketplaces have added consumer rights notices to product detail pages and are also restricting environmental claims based solely on carbon offsets.
