Amazon Air Outsourced Cargo Plane Runs Off Runway in Miami, Killing 5; Outsourcing Model Faces Renewed Scrutiny

On September 6, a Boeing 767 freighter operated by 21 Air and bearing Amazon branding ran off the runway at Miami International Airport and struck a van on a road outside the airport, killing five employees of an aircraft cleaning company. On September 8, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the plane increased thrust seconds before running off the runway and planned to interview the two pilots.
