DJI and Insta360 together hold 93% of the global handheld smart camera market

DJI and Insta360 accounted for 73% and 20%, respectively, of global handheld smart camera shipments in the second quarter of 2026, for a combined 93%. Citing IDC data, the article says global shipments totaled 5.88 million units during the same period, including 4.28 million from DJI and about 1.18 million from Insta360. It attributes the two companies’ advantage to their accumulated expertise in gimbal technology and focus on panoramic cameras, and contrasts this with a 49% year-over-year decline in GoPro’s sports camera shipments.
