ATA Chairman Greg Hodgen wrote before the end of his term that ATA is vital to maintaining safety, integrity, and opportunity in the trucking industry, and identified lawsuit abuse and organized cargo theft as major threats. The latter is estimated to cost $18 million per day. ATA is pushing for federal legislation requiring disclosure of litigation funding, making deliberate crash staging a crime, and strengthening enforcement against organized cargo theft.
