What Is a Watchlist? An Explanation of Streaming Platforms’ Watchlist Mechanisms

Streaming platforms use watchlists to save films and shows users want to watch later. Netflix calls its feature My List, Roku calls it Save List, while Prime Video, Disney+ and others use the term watchlist. These lists are private by default; saved titles indicate preferences rather than viewing behavior. The OpenRTB protocol has no field describing whether a user saved a particular title, and the data remains within the first-party platform.
