Shield Compliance Survey: Cannabis Businesses Seek Broader Financial Services Amid Federal Policy Shifts

The 2026 Shield Compliance Cannabis Banking Satisfaction Survey found that 73% of respondents believe federal rescheduling could affect their businesses, while nearly 40% said closing the intoxicating hemp loophole would have a moderate or greater impact. Only about 5% of respondents said business credit was readily available, while demand was strong for working capital loans (74%), equipment financing (57%), and real estate loans (55%). Banking satisfaction rose to 92%, and the share of respondents planning to switch financial institutions within 12 months fell from 23% to 12%.
