Simply put: What is contagion risk, from US bonds to European bonds and then Indian stocks?

Markets are once again seeing “contagion risk,” this time stemming from surging yields: France’s budget forecasts debt at 119% of GDP, and rising French bond yields have spread to Italy, Spain and Greece, while the US 10-year Treasury yield is nearing 5.3%.
