TrendForce raises 2026 global smartphone production forecast to 1.07 billion units
TrendForce raised its 2026 global smartphone production forecast from 1.05 billion to 1.07 billion units, narrowing the year-on-year decline from 16% to 14%. Global production in the second quarter of 2026 was 275 million units, down 8% year over year and a smaller decline than previously expected. TrendForce believes this was mainly due to consumers buying phones early amid concerns about rising memory prices, along with some brands replenishing production after cutting it too aggressively earlier. It does not indicate a genuine market recovery.
TrendForce provides the Q2 production rankings and year-over-year changes for each brand, and explains that the upward revision to the full-year outlook is driven by advance purchases rather than a recovery in demand.
