European Parliament questions focus on energy security, carbon markets, and grid infrastructure

The 18 European Parliament questions published from October 4 to 11, 2026, covered renewable energy communities, grid infrastructure, carbon markets, and energy security. The European Commission answered six, with the remaining 12 awaiting responses. Commissioner Jørgensen acknowledged that the lack of a Europe-wide common definition led to more than 10 TWh of renewable energy being curtailed in 2024 due to grid congestion, and the Commission proposed increasing the CEF-Energy budget fivefold.
