Amazon EU marketplaces display new consumer rights information in product offers
Amazon has begun displaying consumer rights information in all product offers across its EU marketplaces in support of the EU Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition, which takes effect on September 27, 2026. The platform will automatically show a legal conformity guarantee notice, reminding customers that they have the right to repair, replacement, or return for defective products for at least 2 years; if a seller is considered the product manufacturer and guarantees the product can be used for more than 2 years, it may voluntarily display a durability guarantee label on the product page. The directive also restricts environmental claims based solely on carbon offsets, such as eco-friendly, green, sustainable, or zero carbon emissions.
After the EU’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive takes effect, Amazon automatically displays statutory compliance guarantee notices on its European marketplaces, allowing sellers to update their product page information accordingly.
