eBay Expands Authenticity Guarantee to Collectible Coins

eBay announced that, starting August 18, it will expand Authenticity Guarantee to collectible coins in the United States. U.S. and world graded coins, as well as raw U.S. coins, priced at $500 or more will receive free authentication from PCGS, at no cost to buyers or sellers. Eligible items will be sent to PCGS after sale for a multi-point physical inspection. Once authenticated, they will be sealed with a tamper-evident label featuring a QR code. If the seller offers returns, the return will also go through the authentication center for verification. eBay said searches for collectible coins rose by more than 30% from June 2025 to June 2026, while listings for historical coins increased by more than 40%.
