Kroger to cut 3,000 corporate jobs over three years as it expands AI

Kroger plans to cut about 3,000 corporate positions over the next three years, roughly 37% of its approximately 8,200 corporate employees, to reduce costs and increase investment in AI. The company previously announced on September 22 that it would expand its use of proprietary and third-party AI models and provide AI training and tools to more than 400,000 employees. The cuts follow the elimination of about 1,000 corporate positions in June 2025.
