WhatsApp Ends Support for Android 5.0 and 5.1

Starting September 8, 2026, WhatsApp will stop supporting devices running Android 5.0 or 5.1, and users of those devices will no longer be able to use the app. Affected users can first check whether their phones can be upgraded to Android 6.0 or later. If they cannot be upgraded, users will need to get a new phone. WhatsApp notified users several months in advance. The move is intended to focus support on newer Android versions and make it easier to introduce new features.
