WSJ Intelligence and Code and Theory survey: One-quarter of large U.S. companies have no one overseeing AI across the organization

A WSJ Intelligence and Code and Theory white paper found that large U.S. companies operate an average of 183 AI tools and platforms, only 15% of AI investment is managed through unified systems, and one-quarter of companies have no one responsible for coordinating AI across business units. The survey covered 801 CEOs, CTOs/CIOs, and CMOs at companies with annual revenue of at least $500 million. It relied on respondents’ self-reports, not audit data.
