Germany's EUDI Digital Identity Wallet d-you Planned for Launch in January 2027

Germany plans to launch the European digital identity wallet EUDI-Wallet "d-you" starting January 2027. Birgit Janik, Head of Tax, Finance and Control at bevh, said that from account opening to last-mile delivery, easier identity verification is expected to reduce cart abandonment rates and fraud risk before and after checkout. She also noted that the mandatory acceptance obligation for merchants is currently debatable, but in the long term the positive effects of payment security and simplified KYC processes may prevail, with the next focus being logistics providers' use of d-you for last-mile delivery.
