An Amazon Seller Couple Registered Separate Accounts and Were Suspended After a “Protocol 3” Video Verification; Mark Explains a Path to Resolve the Issue

An Amazon seller couple triggered a “Protocol 3” video verification before peak season after registering accounts under separate companies. During the review, the husband acknowledged that they were married and later submitted their marriage certificate. This violated Amazon’s policies on multiple-account associations and beneficial ownership, so the accounts are likely to lose their selling privileges. Mark recommends that sellers undergoing video verification may refuse to answer questions about their marital privacy, deny any association, and prepare consulting agreements and transfer records. He also notes that details such as inconsistencies in the information provided when setting up a new account can easily trigger a “Protocol 3” review.

After a year and a half selling on Amazon independently, monthly profit fell from 40,000 to 10,000. Should this 30-year-old seller stay or leave? Replies on Zhiwubuyan offer an answer.

An Amazon seller who started in 2018 and has been working independently for a year and a half posted on Zhiwubuyan: monthly profit fell from a peak of nearly 40,000 to about 10,000 after their US marketplace store was swept up under Protocol 3. They bought a new store and transferred inventory, but sales never recovered. The consensus among dozens of replies was not to treat “continuing independently” and “going back to a job” as mutually exclusive. They suggested keeping the store, cutting unprofitable listings to preserve cash flow, registering a new store under their real identity, and joining a well-structured company to strengthen advertising and fine-tune operations. They could keep an eye on other platforms, but should avoid making a large commitment.
